The word entertainment is used in a wide variety of ways and on many different scales, from an individual who chooses a movie, TV show, or album to enjoy privately, to a banquet adapted for two; from a religious festival or a ceremony intended for thousands, to a satirical performance or political demonstration. Many forms of entertainment have evolved and can be adapted to suit the tastes or needs of a particular audience, but they all share the common idea that entertainment is an experience in which we become engrossed and forget our troubles and desires for a brief time.
